I work with kids

TOP TIPS for people who work with kids

  • Be positive about technology.
  • Ask kids about the technology they are using, have a go yourself and make your own conclusions.
  • Teach internet safety whenever you are on the computers with kids – it is a taught skill!
  • When you do open your own Social Network site make sure you investigate the privacy settings, protect yourself and don’t link to kids in a non educational setting.

The KidSMART team love this site - www.notebookbabies.com created by a teacher in the United States. He has used animation to teach his kids important life skills. Our favourite animation is "What is a friend". We’ve found it works with all audiences even hardened past 16 learners!

Youth IGF Project – Encourage your youth to have their say about the future of the Internet

The Youth IGF Project is an opportunity for young people to have a say in the future of the Internet.

This Autumn, governments from around the world will meet with the Internet industry to discuss the future of the Internet. The Internet plays a huge part in the young people's lives and we believe that young people have a right to shape and feed into this discussion to inform the decisions that will be made about its future.

The Youth IGF Project will capture the voice of youth and make sure that it is heard at these discussions. We want to know about children's experiences and understanding of the Internet. Is it really the best it can possibly be? Can all children access the Internet? Who should be in charge of the Internet? What responsibilities do children have to keep the Internet a great and safe place?

Get involved – download the primary or secondary packs and let us know what your young people have to say.
